A bed frame looks simple until you are lying on the floor with a phone flashlight trying to work out what holds it together. Older wood beds use hook-and-slot rail brackets, metal frames use bolts or push-together rails, and storage beds hide their fasteners behind drawers.

Most frames are bigger than any door once they are put together. That is why this job is more about the joints than about the weight.

What this covers

  • Folding and bolted metal rail frames
  • Wood beds with headboard and footboard
  • Platform and slat beds
  • Storage beds with drawers
  • Adjustable bases, if you tell us first
  • Frames left behind in a rental or garage

What helps us quote it

A photo of one corner of the frame tells us most of what we need. If you still have the manual or the hardware bag, set it aside for the crew. A heavy adjustable base has motors and wiring, so mention it when you call.

This page covers single-level beds. Two-level beds and lofts are on the bunk bed page, and a headboard going alone is on the headboard page.

Doing it yourself?

Questions about bed frame removal

Can a metal bed frame be recycled?

Scrap yards generally take steel, though some have preparation rules. Call the yard first and ask what it wants removed. We have not listed one here because their rules change.

Should I take the frame apart before you come?

No need. If you want to do it yourself, our guide on taking apart a bed frame starts with identifying the joint.

What about the slats?

They go with the frame. Rolled slats can stay tied together and loose ones can be stacked next to it.

Can you take the mattress at the same time?

Yes. Tell us when you call so we count it.

Still on the bed? Call us.

One call gets you a free estimate. If the City pickup would do the job for you, we will say so.
